Eyal Kenton

Eyal has a background in sustainability and entrepreneurship and is passionate about empowering founders to succeed in deep tech. After studying Sustainable Development he founded two start-up companies in cleantech where he experienced firsthand the challenges of raising early-stage funding. This inspired his mission to help founders navigate their funding journey with confidence and clarity.  Over the past 10 years Eyal has worked with more than 100 CEOs, guiding them through the complexities of securing grants and venture funding and has established a network of over 400 deep-tech focused VCs.

EIC STEP Scale Up

TRL 9

The EIC STEP Scale Up is the new programme of the European Innovation Council (EIC) that provides an equity-only investment of between €10-30 million. designed to catalyse major funding rounds of ticket sizes at least 3-5 times the EIC investment. The goal of the programme is to fund rapid scale-up and commercialisation of strategic technologies, propelling Europe's economic, industrial, and technological competitiveness.

Accelerator

TRL 6-9

The EIC Accelerator is the flagship programme of the European Innovation Council (EIC) and provides grants of up to €2.5 million and an equity investment from €0.5 to €15 million. This programme is aimed at start-ups and spin-offs that require further funding to reach commercial readiness and international scale-up. Start-ups are expected to have validated a ground-breaking technology with proven product-market-fit and scale-up potential.

Transition

TRL 4-6

The EIC Transition provides grant funding of up to €2.5 million to bridge the gap between academic research and the market.  Its primary goal is to support researchers and entrepreneurial scientists explore a business case around their research and further validate the technology.

Pathfinder

TRL 1-3

The EIC Pathfinder grants up to €3 million to finance multidisciplinary early-stage research.  It encourages scientific breakthroughs that have long time horizons to reach the market. The programme hopes that by bringing together multiple academic stakeholders from different fields, new scientific discoveries will be made.

Innovation

Fund 

TRL 6-9

The Innovation Fund is one of the world’s largest funding programmes for demonstration of low-carbon technologies with an allocated budget of €40 billion from 2020 - 2030.  The fund’s objective is to co-finance the deployment of pilot and first-of-a-kind commercial projects for the pursuit of significant reduction in emissions and greenhouse gases in Europe.  The programme offers up to 60% of a project's total capital expenditure under three possible instruments - small-scale, mid-scale, and large-scale - to accommodate the varying scales of different projects and covers a wide range of innovative low-carbon technologies in areas such as energy- intensive industries, renewables, energy storage, net-zero mobility and buildings, hydrogen, and carbon capture, use and storage.
